Project Summary
Pilot Launch: Initiating with 2 hectares, the Suriname Reforestation Project will plant thousands of trees and crops, incorporating over 10 different species to enhance ecological diversity.
Local Collaboration: Partnerships with Suriname-based agricultural and ecological experts, alongside Trio tribe members, ensure the project is grounded in local knowledge and community engagement.
Future Expansion: Aimed at demonstrating viability, the pilot is a precursor to expanding reforestation efforts, improving local community livelihoods, and addressing mercury contamination in soil.

Our Mission
With the Surinam Reforestation Project, SVN is on a mission to bring back nature with a focus on improving flora and fauna diversity, creating positive impact for the local community, and being net positive for the environment.
We’re doing this by replanting thousands of trees and crops, mixed and matched to sustain and enhance the ecological diversity. In addition, the project will be providing nature-grown food, labor, and education for the local communities.

Pilot Key Pillars
Land Restoration
Reviving landscapes for biodiversity and resilience.
Community Empowerment
Providing jobs and education for the local community.
Carbon Offsets
Absorbing CO2 with thousands of trees, fighting climate change.

Launching the Pilot
Our pilot project has adopted a permacultural design, a holistic approach aimed at creating sustainable and self-sufficient agricultural ecosystems.
This methodology is crucial as it enhances biodiversity, increases the system's resilience to climate change, and improves soil health.
By intermixing a variety of species, we mimic natural ecosystems that are capable of self-maintenance and regeneration.
Permacultural design
The project's pilot in Suriname, consisting of 2 hectares in which thousands of trees, multiple thousands of yielding crops and other beneficial plants will be planted.
In total, over 10 different species have been integrated into the ecological design. In order to get this pilot of the ground, we are working with a Suriname based team, consisting of agricultural and ecological experts, and Trio tribe members.
A diverse design
This diversity not only provides a richer soil base and better water retention but also naturally controls pests and diseases by creating a more balanced ecosystem.
Integrating different species in our permacultural design leads to a more robust, productive, and sustainable agricultural practice, which is essential for achieving our long-term goals in environmental restoration and community support.

Teaming up with agricultural experts
Our collaboration in Suriname is a blend of local expertise and genuine community involvement.
We partner with Suriname's top agricultural and ecological minds and the Trio tribe to ensure our projects are rooted in local knowledge and aimed at real benefits.
Grun Prani stands out as our key ally, championing sustainable farming and helping us merge traditional practices with modern ecological approaches.
This partnership is crucial, making our efforts not just impactful but deeply connected with the community and environment we serve.
